The capybara, ( Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) is a mammal that lives in the Amazon rainforest. Capybaras are herbivores. They spend most of their days in the water, being able to last for five minutes underwater without breathing.
Capybaras will have to evolve from their old home and adapt to their new habitat, the savana in over 1 million years. First, capybaras will have to develop thick skin to walk on hot grounds without burning their feet. They will also have to grow large, tough lips to eat any prickly plants. Capybaras will stay in burrows during hot days, sleeping most of the time because they will have to be nocturnal to hunt when it's cold. They will have to adapt large ears to hear any approaching predators. Capybaras will have to experience difficult changes to adapt to their new, hot environment.
