Scarlet macaws live in the canopy and emergent layer of the rainforest. To thrive in the rainforest, it adapted long, pointed wings to fly fast among the trees. It consumes clay to neutralize plant poisons in its diet, nests in tree hollows on upper branches, and it’s often found in pairs, or flocks of 10 to 30 birds. An adaptation is that females lay one or two eggs. It does this so that they can focus on raising a few chicks very well.
Tropical rainforests will likely become deserts, for scarlet macaws to thrive in the desert; it’ll need to adapt.
It’ll adapt to be nocturnal, which will help it stay cool. It’ll also concentrate its urine, so it won’t need much water, because there isn’t much water in the desert.
It’ll get stronger muscles and wider wings to fly longer to keep off sand and away from predators.
