The Black Howler Monkey lives in the tropical and subtropical forests of central South America. They got their name because of the howls that they can produce due to their large hyoid bone that amplifies their calls for territorial defence. They primarily eat leaves, but their diet also includes fruits, flowers, buds, and nuts.
In the next 1000000 years their home the tropical rainforest would turn into a savanna. Due to the rapid climate change, causing more wildfires, and the destruction of their homes,. howler monkeys will have thinner fur and large ears which both help with cooling. They will have cheek pouches to store food. They will also have more digestive flexibility so they could eat figs and other fast growing trees. They will also have stronger molars for grinding tougher leaves. All these adaptations will help the Black Howler Monkeys stay alive in the rapid climate change
