The capybara “Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris” has to involve with its home, the Amazon Rainforest. In 5,000 years the rainforest will become a swamp. The temperature will rise from 77°F to 89°F. Instead of eating grasses, plants, melons, and squashes, it will eat bugs, scallops, oysters, mussels, and shrimp.
Due to malnutrition in the swamp, the capybara’s body will become smaller. Being forced into the water, the capybara’s fur will no longer be thick and dark but instead be thinner and lighter. In addition to the capybara’s webbed feet it will also grow thumbs to help it with opening its food. To help the capybara swim it will develop gills and a long tail to act like a propeller. Currently the capybara’s eyes and ears are on top of its head it will also lose its eyelids. In the future the capybara has a chance of survival.
