Ailurus Fulgens, the red panda, lives in cool misty mountains forests in the Himalayas, including Nepal, China, and India. It has soft, thick fur, and bright red and orange colors that help it stay warm and blend in with trees. Red pandas weigh about eight to seventeen pounds, and about twenty two to twenty five inches long. They are omnivores, but they eat mostly bamboo, along with fruit and insects. In the next one thousand years, red pandas may change to survive a Warmer world, flatland, and no longer trees around. They could grow longer, stronger legs to run on flat land. Their fur might become thinner and lighter to stay cool. They may start eating grass instead of bamboo and become active in the early morning or early evening to avoid heat. These changes would help them survive even if their forest homes slowly disappear over next many years.
