Present day: Resplendent quetzals are beautiful birds with colorful, (and long) feathers. They live in Costa Rica tropical forests, eating avocados. Male birds have LONG tail feathers. Babies are born with skin, and develop brown feathers when growing. They are called chicks. They eat tiny green avocados given to them by their parents. They live in nests which are in holes in trees. Future Day This desert dwelling, brown and barren bird is seen in barrows by cacti. They live by cacti because of their strong roots and ability to find water. They feed babies and they feed on prickly pear from the cacti nearby. They use their strong and big beaks to dig out the sand in the burrow and to get the prickly pear. They are brown and pale to blend in with the sand. They fly short distances for strength. They are small and light.
