Emerald Tree boas are arboreal snakes that live in the Amazon rainforest. They eat small animals, they have heat sensors to detect this prey. Their green, yellow, and white coloration helps them camouflage.
Since you probably know what Emerald Tree boas are, we can go about 3,000 years into the future. Environmental changes have turned the Amazon rainforest into a desert. There are, of course, not many trees in a desert, so Topaz Brushboas have changed to live in rocks and small caves. With no trees, there is not much prey in the desert, Topaz brushboas have also become smaller so they need less food, and less sensitive sensors to detect prey and not sand. Finally, since they’re in the desert with a lot of sand, their past green coloration only makes them more visible to predators. Males are yellow, brown and white, while females are grey and white.
