In the present day, capybaras live in a pond, lake, or a river in South America. Their scientific name is Hydrochoerus Hydrochaeris, isn’t that cool! They can stay under water for 5 minutes. They have a barret shaped body that is brown and have very sharp nails. Capybaras can live up to 8 to 10 years. The name capybara comes from the Tupi language meaning grass eater. They eat insects that live near them.
I think in the future, capybaras will start to live in the ocean. They will have webbed feet to help them swim and be able to stay under water for 20 minutes and would be able to live from 8 to 50 years. For their food they would eat ocean animals like fish. Their predators would be whales, sharks, and other big animals. They will also adapt gills so they can breathe underwater.
