The poison dart frogs are a diurnal, ground-dwelling group of species who are found in tropical rainforests. They produce poison out of glands in their skin and have bright colors to warn off predators. There’s a noticeable lack of webbing and small, sticky toe pads to assist with mobility in their adult stage. In the future with climate change: increased temperatures and deforestation, this species may struggle to evolve sufficiently. Most likely, they will shift to cooler locations within their habitat and adapt to become nocturnal. Their sticky toe pads will enlarge to be better suited for climbing. Certain changes such as increased moisture-retention would be beneficial in a drier habitat to conserve water, along with slow change of phenotypic color to better match a more arid savanna ecosystem as a way of camouflage.
