In the future, vampire bats will need to adapt to the changing environment in order to survive. Currently vampire bats are unique creatures with a niche of drinking blood, allowing them to have little competition in prey. They are now struggling with high temperatures in the Amazon and mass cullings to prevent rabies outbreaks. In the future they may also struggle with caves to live in due to urbanization. To survive these changing conditions, the vampire bat will become smaller and have larger ears to regulate their body temperature and to stay hidden and aware of predators. They will also have lighter fur colors to camouflage to their new environment living on the surface due to their caves being overtaken. They will also develop an immunity to rabies, resulting in the spreading less of the disease and not being targeted for culling.
