Two-toed sloths currently spend all of their time in the canopy of trees, hanging upside down and moving at a leisurely pace. They are a light brown/gray that blend in with the tree branches up high. With deforestation and climate change, it is very likely that there will be less and less trees and hotter temperatures in the Amazon rainforest in the near future. The two-toed sloths will evolve to a darker brown and lightweight fur that blends in with the forest floor, and keeps the sloth cool with warming temperatures. The sloth will have to crawl on the ground without trees, and they will form a toe pad so they are able to do so. Their toe nail will also grow stronger and flatter to allow for faster and more stable crawling on the ground.
