Picture this: A cockatoo living in a polar climate with white, thick feathers for warmth. You may be asking, how did this happen? It’s all because of one thing: climate change. The constant rise of the water levels around the rainforests, the cockatoo’s natural habitat, forced them to migrate because of the lack of food. They travelled south to the Arctic, and over the course of many centuries, they adapted into the arctic cockatoos. Currently, these tropical creatures are native to countries such as Indonesia, New Guinea, the Philippines, and Australia. Cockatoos are known for their head crests, high intelligence, and social behaviors. Going to the arctic, these creatures would have to adapt in many ways. They would need a thick layer of feathers and fur to keep them warm, and would need to learn how to spot prey in the snow. They would also need to beware of predators.
