Scarlet Macaws, unique creatures known for their bright feathers, are easily seen and hunted, especially by humans. Macaws live in large deciduous trees, high off the ground. Unfortunately, due to climate change, their habitats in the rainforest are being destroyed and temperatures are rising. To combat these growing threats, Macaws have to adapt to the situation in order to survive. Firstly, their feathers have to change into a duller, more camouflaged coat to hide from predators and cool down as their original colors will heat up too fast. Another adaptation made would be their habitats. They will be forced to move closer to the ground and near water as tall trees will become scarce. Their feathers will become hydrophobic to adapt to the wetter climate. Lastly, their bodies will shrink to reduce energy and resources needed. These adaptations will help them survive our changing environments.
