By the year 2026, humans have significantly impacted the survival of the Sun Bear, now known as Helarctos aquaticus. Due to deforestation and rising sea levels from climate change, 90% of their home is flooded. Since humans destroyed the trees they once climbed, I re-engineered their bodies to move from the canopy into the deep water to survive. One major change I designed was adding thick webbing between their toes to create "Hydro-Fins," turning their old climbing claws into powerful paddles for swimming. I also gave them a muscular tail to help them steer while chasing fish. Since human-driven pollution makes the water murky, I made their orange chest patch glow like a beacon so families can find each other. Their fur also evolved from black to silt-brown to blend in with the muddy river water. My goal was to show how animals must adapt to a human-altered world.
