Climate change is rapidly increasing, and will eventually harm the Amazon irreversibly. Some factors include increased temperatures, deforestation, and drought. I gave the squirrel monkey four adaptations to help it survive. First, I thought about deforestation and predicted that the squirrel monkey would have to rely more on the ground to move around because of the lack of trees. Because of this, I made the monkey's tail shorter for better mobility on the ground. Next, I made the monkey's ears bigger to act as a natural cooling system by radiating heat away from the body and increasing the surface area for blood to circulate. I also added more sweat glands to the monkey to also help manage body heat. Lastly, I took inspiration from the kangaroo rat, and gave the monkey a specialized kidney to produce more concentrated urine to minimize water waste to help with drought.
