The changes in the rainforest in the future could be quite helpful to the Tapir population but could also pose a large threat to their species. With less rainfall and hotter temperatures the amazonian tapir would need to have a better way to store and conserve water. Though the tapirs thrive in a hot environment they would need harder scale like skin to help them repel the heat and stay cool during hot summer days. This kind of climate would be helpful to the tapirs because one of their main predators are crocodiles and with less rainfall and fewer water sources the tapir would be able to stay safer in this new environment. Since tapirs mainly survive off of grass and vegetation they would need to become more accustomed to savannah like grasses.
