An important animal in the rainforest ecosystem is the jaguar. This species plays a major role in maintaining the balance of the environment by feeding off of smaller prey. Since jaguars are quite versatile it is suspected in the future that they will lose their ability to hunt as effectively. A couple of examples of their talents is their ability to swim with their webbed feet, their ability to climb trees easily with their large claws, and the ability to camouflage using their fur. I predict that their paws will lose it’s webbing and become more adapted for land hunting. This is because due to global warming water sources have shrunk majorly in size. Furthermore, deforestation has caused a lack of trees causing no need for climbing. Lastly, their fur may become one color since plants are rapidly being taken away so they would no longer provide sustainable camouflage.
