Spider Monkeys, also known as the trapeze artists of the rainforest are endangered and are almost extinct. They are called the trapeze artists because of their very long arms, legs, and tail and because of their ability to swing gracefully from branch to branch. Their tails, sometimes longer than their body, can be used as a fifth limb to grab and hook onto things. The trees that they live and swing in are being cut down. They need to be able to adapt to different environments or be able to live in places other than trees such as underground. They might need to grow claws to be able to dig holes in the ground so they can live there. Their eyes might also need to adapt to seeing in the dark if they are going to live underground. This evolution may take up to 50,000 years.
