A howler monkey's howl can be heard from three miles away. A howler monkey uses its tail like an extra arm to help it hold onto branches. The howler monkey lives high up in trees. They live in inland rainforests and coastal rainforests. The coastal rainforests could go under water. With the trees gone they might not need a tail. They would have to be able to swim long distances. The inland rainforest could become dry savannas. With a lot of the trees gone they would need to be faster on the ground. They also would need to become smaller because there would not be enough food for them. They would need to become camouflaged so that predators could not see them as easily. I think this process would take more than 1,000 years. The howler monkey would not be able to adapt to the changes fast enough.
