The creature I chose was the Pink Amazon Dolphin. The creature they will become known as is the Gray Hunchback Dolphin. Mercury, a metal abundant in the food chain, reaches the dolphins through prey like catfish. This mercury (in high amounts) can turn their purple color an eerie grey and harm the brain, heart and lungs. Over the next span of 500 years the once pink dolphins will have their skin turned grey and along with this will learn that they need to adapt to catching other prey that won’t harm them. The dolphins grow more fins that will help them swim faster and their grey appearance will make it harder to see them. Their bodies become slimmer so they glide easily through the water and maybe in a few more hundred years will eventually obtain the pink color they once had.
