As you may know, sloths live in healthy rainforests with plenty of food to go around. Everything may seem fine with sloths now but as the climate changes sloths will face the consequences. Let’s get into it, the climate is changing, and sloths are not fit to adapt. First, comes the problem of degradation of tropical forests. Forest degradation would cause the sloth to not be able to find food and unlike other animals, sloths can’t migrate because of their incredibly slow speeds. Then, comes changes in temperature of their environment. Sloths, unlike other animals can’t regulate their own body temperatures, this means that if it gets too hot for them, they can easily overheat and the same goes for if it gets too cold, they could get hypothermia. All in all, sloths aren’t very fit for climate change and their species probably wouldn’t survive during all these harsh conditions.
