The reed frog’s anatomy and habits will undergo several changes as a result of rising sea levels on the coast of the Congo Rainforest. As it exists currently, the Congo reed frog is brightly colored. However, with a new environment comes new predators, so the reed frog will adapt by having muted colors. Evolution takes many years, though, so the change in colors will occur gradually. Rather than eating small bugs like flies and ants that are found on land, the tree frog will turn to eating microorganisms, bacteria, and plant debris floating around. Furthermore, the reed frog will develop webbed feet and gills eventually as they transition to full-time aquatic living. A common habit of reed frogs is their high-pitched call. This will become redundant as sound does not travel well in water.
