I selected a Black Bear from a northern coastal temperate rainforest environment. As shown in my first illustration, Black Bears in northern regions are bulky in order to keep warm. They have a lot of fat and fur that covers their bodies. Additionally, living on land, they need large paws and legs to move. The bear in my futuristic illustration has different characteristics. Due to climate change’s impact on the sea levels, the once marsh-like forest is drawn completely underwater. First, the bear has fins instead of large paws. Fins allow the bear to swim quickly and easily. Climate change also causes global warming. For this reason, the future bear does not have as much fur or fat and is overall leaner since it doesn’t need to keep up its body temperature due to a cold climate. Throughout the future, climate change will have an effect on creatures internationally.
