In the present, toucans live in tropical or rainforest environments. They have bright colors and long beaks. However, the future held deforestation, leading to a loss of a proper habitat for these birds. Humans had constructed enclosed domes for them, as air pollution made it unsafe for the toucans to live in whatever wild was left. The toucans had changed by losing much of their vibrant colors and becoming much lighter with larger wings. This would enable them to fly more while taking less energy. This adaptation was necessary as food was less plentiful in the environments they lived in. In addition, the food they could acquire was not sufficient as to enable them to retain the coloring they had in this present day.
