My animal is a Toucan. Toucans nest in the hollows of trees. They often move into cavities created and abandoned by woodpeckers. Native to South America, toco toucans inhabit a range of habitats including tropical forests, savannas, and shrubland. The toucan is being affected by climate change from people tearing down their habitats to create coal mines. Many other tropical birds are being threatened with extinction. That is because people are using the rainforest to create homes, they even pollute the place. It is very hurtful, because many of the toucan’s died because of pollution. Toucans spend their lives high in the rain forest canopies of Central and South America. They seldom make trips to the forest floor. Home for the toucan is a nest in a hollowed-out tree cavity.
