The animal that I chose to improve based on long term effects that could be happening to its habitat of a rainforest is a jaguar. Currently, a jaguar is a large cat with a camouflage coat and pads at their paws to sweat. With challenges like global warming, flooding, habitat changes, rising of water, and extinction in animals, jaguars need to be able to adapt and evolve. Possible features that a jaguar could have in the future are gills, sweat glands, a change in diet of plants, animals, and fish, completely webbed feet, and a different shape of the tail for more efficient swimming. These new features would help a jaguar cool down in hot temperature and swim efficiently to catch prey in their water without having to rise above the water level for air. This way, jaguars can adapt to new surroundings to survive against new challenges.
