The sloth bear lives in the coastal rainforests of India. They have long claws and shaggy fur like a sloth and eat insects and fruit. Their large claws, flexible lips, long tongue, and unusual teeth help them eat termites. They have an amazing sense of smell but poor eyesight and hearing. 1,000 years in the future, the coastal rainforests will flood. The bears will be forced to migrate inland to India's grasslands. Their fur will grow shorter and their large ears will help to cool them down. Their diets won't change much and the sloth bears will need to dig a burrow in the ground and sleep there during the day to stay cool. Their hearing will improve and their eyes will become wider so that they can see in the dark. Their fur will be shades of gray, brown, and tan, to help them camouflage in the tall grasses.
