A few thousands of years later due to climate change and the many forest fires, the sloths had to adapt and evolve to deal with these changes to their environment. The rain forests became savannas because fires burned all the trees down and they were replaced by grass, smaller trees, shrubs, and bushes. The sloths adapted to this by no longer living in trees since that would make them a target for their predators because the sloths would be higher up. They now live in burrows that they dig with the claws that they already have. They only leave the burrow to eat the leaves off of the bushes and shrubs that grow in the savanna. They are still slow moving and use this to their advantage because their fur has evolved to be more beige to camouflage into the grass and moving slowly will make this more effective.
