Basil

In the future, the trees are all chopped down. The plumed basilisk turns from green to brown. It blends in with stumps to avoid predators. With the trees chopped down, water is not absorbed as well. The water level rises, and the land becomes a marsh. The basilisk loses its ability to run on water. The basilisk becomes a land only basilisk and loses the flaps of skin on its feet. The basilisk runs fast on the ground. The basilisk grows a long tongue for catching bugs like a frog. The basilisk starts growing larger and larger. It is now known as a basil.
