The crocodile's habitat currently has tall trees and high rivers. The tallest trees will fall allowing rain to muddy the ground instead of just rivers, lowering the river levels. This also means that the muddy ground might have some unique plants within it, specifically giant leaves with sprouts to hold them off the mud. The crocodile could adapt to this habitat change by evolving into a stronger nose so it can hide under those leaves. It could also gain armadillo-like skin to protect itself while on land. Finally the crocodile might gain a vertical ability with its tail to strike prey from below the leaves and limbs more set for crawling fast. In all the crocodile would gain these adaptations to help survive in its new environment.
