The animal I chose for this Future Creatures project was the monarch butterfly. The monarch butterfly is famous for its seasonal migration. Millions of monarchs migrate from the United States and Canada south to California and Mexico for the winter. Climate change is a very big part in the monarch butterfly migration process. Increased temperatures are forcing Monarch butterflies into longer migrations as they journey to breeding grounds further north. The impacts can be seen already, though Monarchs are built to fly long distances, their wings are now growing even larger to cope with the stress of a longer migration. With this information, one prediction I can conclude is that the monarchs will have larger wings. My drawings show this and the first drawing shows the monarchs currently.
