Due to a century-long drought, where lush coniferous forests once stood, rolling plains have sprawled over the land from the southwestern United States through central Mexico. Ecosystems biodiversity evolved so has the species creating a new environment, the coati a keystone species, with adaptations it has dominated this biosphere. Due to resources available their diet has changed, with small rodents thriving in the prairie/grassland, to primarily carnivorous consisting of some desert berries. Their brain has adapted to form complex hunting tactics. collaborating with other coatis in the band to tunnel rodents to the surface. With more food, weight increases to 80 pounds and a one tone back to avoid detection from the sky, and improved hearing to locate prey underground. The tail mimics a tiger rattlesnake and has a rattling mechanism on its back paw. The coati body is altered to be more flexible, similar to a ferret.
