Pygmy three-toed sloths are only found in Escudo de Veragua, an island in Panama. These sloths live in mangrove trees and they eat mangrove leaves. Humans are destroying their habitat, cutting mangrove trees. Pygmies are great swimmers even though they are slow. They can hold their breath for 40 minutes under the water. In the future, they can live in the ocean. But it would be a place with the land. Instead of arms, they’ll have fins so they can swim easier, they would walk with two feet on land. There wouldn’t be mangrove leaves, so they could eat another plant that provides the same nutrients. The algae that grow on their fur would continue to grow. The principal idea is to convert the Pygmy sloth into a semi-aquatic animal, a fish-sloth. I think this would be a really nice living for the pygmies, and it would work really well.
