The Toco Toucan

When researching the Toco Toucan, I saw some really cool but also really sad facts. First as a way to maintain homeostasis, they transfer the heat to their beaks but that excess heat makes the beak grow. Another fact is since toco toucans have large beaks, they can’t fly well, so they adapted to that by having two toes on the front and two toes on the back, so they can walk around on the canopy and branches. Some predictions about the toucans over time due to climate change: 1) they will have to change their diet because if we keep cutting down trees, they won’t have their fruits that are the main substance in their diet and 2)their beaks will grow longer making it difficult for them to move to get food. We need to change our ways as humans to save the lives of all rainforest animals.
