In 2,800 years, the temperature of the Earth could increase by 10 degrees fahrenheit, causing higher evaporation and transpiration rates. The heavy frequent rains would turn the rainforest ecosystem into a much wetter climate. Today Atheris hispida/Spiny Bush Vipers, are found in equatorial tropical rainforests of Africa. They have green and yellow keeled scales to blend with the trees. They are small for a snake species but possess neurotoxic venom, prehensile tails and are incredible climbers. The future Atheris amphibios will spend its days in water under dense shade, where it is cooler and protects from harmful UV radiation. Aquatic bush vipers will develop electroreceptors in their tongues to sense things in their murky environment. Flatter bodies and small arms with webbed claws will form for better mobility. They will evolve to use cutaneous respiration to better filter the extraordinary amounts of carbon dioxide found in the air.
