The axolotl(Ambystoma Mexicanum) is an amphibian that lives in mostly water. It is a salamander that's closely related to the tiger salamander. It also comes in various colors such as pink, white and brown and can grow up to 12 inches(1 foot). It lives in the river layer of the Mexican rainforest, specifically the Xochimilco and Lake Chalco rivers located in the Valley of Mexico. Regarding what it would look like in 1000 years I think that due to climate change, the Xochimilco river will lose water and not be habitable for axolotls. Therefore I believe the axolotl will have to go through metamorphosis in order to live on land. I think it will live in mud and its color will be changed to black or brown in order to blend in and hide from predators.
