Geckos currently live in tropical leafy and sticky habitats. In the future, habitats may become flooded due to a rise in sea levels. Trees may begin to break down and future species may not be able to live in unbearable heat and humidity. Rainforests by the coast may become completely covered in water. Geckos will adapt to this by primarily living under water in flooded rainforests. These geckos will thrive by eating water bugs and quickly darting around submerged areas. They are also able to climb onto trees of leaves around them. They will now have webbed feet, gills as well as lungs, and have the ability to become invisible while camouflaging in the water.
