The Underwater Sloth

1000 years in the future I predict the rainforest will be an under-the-ocean habitat like Atlantis in the old myths. Because of the changes, the environment is going through the animals would have to adapt as well. I chose to create the adapted version of the sloth for this environment. One way they would have to adapt is their breathing. Sloths would need gills on their neck so they could breathe underwater. Much like fish, they would need clear eyelids to protect their eyes from the salt water. They would also need a long flat tail to steer, like a rutter when they swim. Sloths would be able to swing through the coral and trees. Sloths would have shorter fur so that they would use less energy swimming. Lastly, rather than growing algae on their back, they would grow plankton a form of camouflage in the environment.
