According to National Geographic, deforestation is the large-scale removal of trees from forests for any type of human activities. This could be for houses, timber, paper and much more. The drawing on the left shows the current habitat of a sloth. Their original habitats are the branches of the trees in the rainforest. The drawing on the right shows the effect of deforestation after many years. Not only have the sloths lost their home, they also lost the most valuable food source. The sloth in the picture has grown nails and started to dig holes to burrow underground. The sloth has started to adapt to his current environment by changing the area he lives in.
