Currently capybaras live around vegetation and rivers or other water sources. My drawing shows how capybaras have some fat and thick fur on their body which they use as warmth and protection. One reason why the environment around the capybaras are so important to them is because they are herbivores, so it’s easy for them to forage for food.
The second drawing shows the effects of climate change on the capybaras environment and how that affects the capybara. As you see in the drawing, the grass has turned into dirt and the water has evaporated due to the warmth. Like I explained earlier, capybaras are herbivores so due to the lack of vegetation they’ve started to dramatically lose weight, therefore their anatomy is less protected. In order for them to survive they had to adapt to foraging for meat and in that process they lost hair and energy.
