On the before picture you can see that the Axolotl has all the traits in order to survive. On the after picture you can see that oil pollution is causing unhealthy gills and shorter tails. Most of oil production comes from Texas and comes through the Gulf of Mexico and into Mexico rivers where axolotls live. The Axolotl population is decreasing at an alarming rate. According to animals.com, there are only 50-1000 axolotls left in the Mexico rivers. Axolotls are projected to go extinct in the next 10 years. There is still time to save these great creatures. You can help by making less oil go into the ocean and by helping with beach clean ups. With help, we can save these amazing animals.
