The Green Vine Snake is a carnivore that eats reptiles and small rodents. It lives in the trees, spending its days pretending to be a vine with its thin body and green scales. However, in the future, this rainforest will become a savanna, causing the snake to turn brown, mimicking a tree branch. Its tongue becomes a leaf-like structure, allowing the snake to become an insectivore. The insects crawl along the snake, attracted to the leaf tongue. When they reach the tongue, the snake pulls them in and eats them. All of these adaptations allow the snake to survive in its new environment and avoid extinction, helping the species live on for hundreds of years to come.
