I chose the toucan as my animal because I like birds and a toucan is a bird in the rainforest. The climate on the top drawing is the current environment that the toucan lives in. The toucan lives in a humid rainforest. There’s a lot of moisture in the air so cooling down by sweating wouldn’t work. Instead, their way of cooling off is thermoregulation. Basically, a toucan’s warm blood flows from their body into their beaks and releases the heat. The cooled blood then flows back into the body. Looking into the future the temperatures will rise. Therefore, I made the future toucan have a larger beak with more blood vessels so that more blood can get into the beak at one time. I also made the feathers a lighter shade of black because black absorbs heat. Having lighter colored feathers would help the bird cool off as well.
