The Three-Toed Sloth has many adaptations that help it survive in the tropical rainforests of Central and North America. Sloths have a brown layer of fur and special tendons on their hands that help them grip branches high up in the trees. They stay up in the trees to eat the leaves and fruit. Sloths move so slowly that green algae grows on them to help them camouflage.
In the future, the tropical rainforest will become a savannah due to global warming. The tendons on their hands will sharpen over time to help defend themselves. In the hot future, sloths will have no fur left to keep cool. They will start burrowing underground due to trees not growing as much. Their diet will change from leaves to meat and fish. The Three-Toed Sloth is an amazing animal so we need to save it!
