The animal chosen for this challenge is the Basilisk or Plumed lizard. Currently, it abides by an omnivorous diet that includes fruit, plant material, and small vertebrates. This lizard is currently living primarily in the Central American rainforest. This lizard is especially known because its hollow leg bone structures allow it to run across water at high speeds.
It is predicted that this rainforest will eventually become a savannah. As Savannahs have long grass the new creature has a more muted color palette with natural almost snake-like patterning. It will also gain a larger body mass, especially in its legs and feet to better dig burrows used for shelter in extremely hot dry weather. it can still run bipedally and will gain wing-like structures that allow it to evade predators that may attack when seeking shelter in trees. It also has the ability to lose its tail when attacked.
