The Digging Robot on the Moon in Outer Space, or DROMOS, is autonomously controlled, but can be overridden by humans, or it can request human control if it finds it necessary. The robot uses rechargeable batteries charged by solar panels. The robot will have a low center of balance by placing batteries at the bottom. The robot will go 10 MPH so it can reach its target quickly while still being efficient. It will use tracks to maintain traction. The robot will be made of mostly kevlar to sustain extreme temperatures and be durable. The robot will have smooth coating to have dust not stick and it will use wipes and vibration on the solar panels to keep dust off. The robot will use a bucket wheel to excavate the regolith and store it on a removable carbon fiber box. The box is removed at the base for human use.
