At the front of Martian, there is a tiny vacuum that sucks up all the dust so that the camera can see and not hit a rock. The back of Martian has a tiny scooper to scoop up the rocks and then it lifts up and pushes the rocks to the middle compartment. The tires have suction cups to move over rocks instead of just hitting them. They can climb up over obstacles like craters, or Mars cliffs.
