The Andromeda 5000 is a soil collecting robot. The wheels on Andromeda can adjust their width to as little as 2 feet wide, up to 5 feet wide, surpassing the width of the robot. The body of the robot is 2 feet wide *2 feet tall *2 feet long, plus the 2 wheels on each side which are each ½ of a foot tall. Underneath the robot, there are 2 “claws” which scoop lunar soil into a vacuum tube, bringing the soil into a storage container that can hold 1½ pound of lunar soil. The amount of soil in the chamber is indicated by the screen on the front of the robot. The chamber and the vacuum tube are both coated in silicone rubber. The robot itself is made out of tungsten, which has the highest melting point of any metal, at 6,169 degrees Fahrenheit (3,422 degrees Celsius).
