My design is inspired by NASA RASSOR design. After many hours of consideration, I have added extra joints to the “arms” for extra movements. Now it can dump lunar regolith at high altitudes, pass through obstacles, and using buckets as wheels… In addition to uses mentioned by the original design — collect and store regolith. Since we have the extra joints, they have a better range of motion than the original design. I have added a new storage system on top of the electronic system located in the middle of the Transporter. Choosing the tracks over other propulsion system has been hard. I’ve looked into many designs and even considered VIPERs new approved all-metal wheel as a candidate. But our goal with LET (Lunar Excavator Transporter) is to dig and move regolith, therefore it needs to be able to carry heavy load ( despite 1/6 gravity). Hence the tracks.
