REX (Regolith Excavation Xplorer) moves around via a set of tracks with a covering on the outward-facing side to protect the internal wheels from lunar dust. It picks up regolith with a magnetic (to minimize lunar dust) scooper. After the scooper picks up some dust, it moves up a rail system until the entire scooper is above the body. Then, the scooper tilts back and deposits the regolith onto the conveyor belt where it is then transferred to a hinged plate where it collects the regolith/deposits regolith into an 8x10x18 inch bucket on demand. All electronics are housed inside the main body, protected from outside elements. An antenna is deployed to receive sets of instructions only when the scooper is not moving. This protects it from possible disturbed dust.
